A Slice of Dunwell Family Life

Monday-Dunwell Family Acreage

I’m starting this journal because my life is ridiculous, and someone needs to document it. And by someone, I mean me, because who else would I mean?
This morning, I tried to play the piano, but I kept being interrupted by my siblings. Our piano is in the living room, and before I went in there, no one else was in sight! But the second I sat down at the piano, Edward (though he prefers to be called “Eddie”) came barging in, asking what day of the week it was.
“Addie, is today Monday or Tuesday?”
“Well, it was Sunday yesterday, and Monday comes after Sunday, so that would mean…” (I trailed off here because I felt Eddie should be given a chance).
“Oh! So it’s…Tuesday, then! Right?” I won’t bother writing out the rest of the conversation, because it involved me losing my temper, and so I’m thinking that that specific moment in time shouldn’t be recorded. When we finally got the day-of-the-week stuff straightened out, and Eddie left, I was just about to start playing one of my pieces when Mary came in. She wanted to draw a portrait of me. I said no. She pretended not to hear and drew it anyway. Then she showed it to me. I may never recover. I mean, I never thought of myself as having a head like a potato and arms like spaghetti, and my whole life I’ve been pretty sure that my eyes didn’t look like blobs. But hey-maybe Mary’s picture would interest all those “abstract-art” obsessed people. Aren’t they supposed to like weird pictures? I’ll have to look into that.
Needless to say, I did not get to play the piano. I didn’t even get to start playing it. But tomorrow will be a new day! Full of hope and joy and…newness! Ah, I’m so encouraging! So upbeat! I really should go into counseling (ha ha, just kidding. Not going to happen).
