I have to be honest: setting up Phron was…one of the hardest things I have ever done. Let me explain.
First, I had to buy my domain. That was easy enough. But then, I had to connect my domain to my host, and while that shouldn’t have been a problem, guess what? It was a problem. It took me four and a half hours to do. FOUR AND A HALF HOURS. By the time I was done, I was ready to up and toss my laptop out the nearest window (and never mind that the nearest window was closed). Maybe doing what I had to do would be considered easy by most people, but I am not most people. I’m me. I know next to nothing about technology and anything connected to the internet.
The next stop in getting Phron set up, was…setting it up. Choosing the theme. Writing. Moving things around. Trying not to ruin everything before it had even begun. But because I am prone to unknowingly making the worst decisions possible when doing anything on my laptop, I made the mistake of choosing the WordPress theme Twenty Twenty-Five.
I looked at it and thought, “That looks nice. Modern and simple. Should be a breeze!”. I chose it, and found something out: I was wrong. It wasn’t “a breeze”. Little did I know that Twenty Twenty-Five was one of the least beginner-friendly themes WordPress had ever invented. And there I sat at my desk, struggling to just make things WORK ALREADY. For the record, it took me about two hours to change the background color of my homepage. Pathetic, I know, and you can laugh all you want, but it’s true. I’m not making any of this up.
At last, I decided to change my theme to Astra, which was so much easier to use. It still took a very long time, and I was completely exhausted by the end (not to mention angry) but finally-finally-my blog was set up in what could be described as presentable.
I struggled…I got mad…I almost broke down…but through it all, I persevered! And I got my way.
